Dr. Nawanan Theera-Ampornpunt is a general practitioner from Thailand. After graduating first-class honors from Mahidol University Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, he turned his career toward his newfound passion in health informatics, working at his alma mater medical school. He then was offered scholarships to pursue his master and doctoral degrees in health informatics at the University of Minnesota Institute for Health Informatics.
After receiving his Ph.D. in 2011, he went back to work in the IT department at the medical school and is now a faculty member at its Department of Community Medicine. He teaches health informatics, health service systems, and epidemiology in various institutes in Thailand, while also work as the CIO/CMIO of a new medical campus being built in the Bangkok suburbs, the Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute. His interest includes clinical informatics, health information exchange, and workforce development.
